Mineral Identity - Residual Memory started as a game with water. Then it slowly became a serious affair. On his visit to Rodrigues island, in 1989, Pope John Paul II said “Mountains cannot meet. But people can meet”. From there came the idea of social mutations and the disparity with ancient and modern local culture. The artist wished to depict this indifference whereby the self is favoured instead of community, which is the contrary to what the Pope said.
